Brush up on your Java and Linux skills with Jozi UGs

Open source devs take note: Mark sends word that two of the most popular coding meet-up groups in Gauteng have got February sorted out with two workshop and discussion evening around some of the more arcane aspects of Linux and Java.

The first, which is being organised by the Johannesburg Linux User Group (JoziLUG) is all about that hardest of hardcore Linux distributions, Arch. Arch Linux: A modern rolling release Linux distribution takes place at Jumping Bean‘s offices on 3rd Feb at 6.30pm.

Arch is to Ubuntu as Ubuntu is to Windows, so well worth dropping by if you’ve always fancied trying it out but been too afraid to abandon your sudo safety net.

In other news, the Johannesburg Java User Group (JoziJUG) is also organising an event around Mule ESB, Cloud Hub & TCat and Enterprise supported TCat.

I literally have no idea what that means. But the gist is that these are very exciting technologies if you do a lot of Java development. It’s also taking place at Jumping Bean‘s offices, this time on Monday 10th February at 6pm.
