The Last of Us rumoured to be heading to the PS4 this July

Sony’s smash-hit action game The Last of Us may be getting a PlayStation 4 version that could be out as early as July, 2014. This is according to a rumour hinted at on the official PlayStation Forums by a poster calling himself Lordidude. There isn’t much to go on other than his assertion that:

Similar to Tomb Raider ND [Naughty Dog] will do the same with TLOU.

The Last of Us GOTY Edition for the PS4.

Release Date: around July 2014.

As the rumour involves a Game of the Year edition, that means if TLOU does make it to the PS4, it should theoretically also include the upcoming DLC.

This could be more a case of wanting to believe it than there being anything concrete to go on, but it makes sense for Sony to want to push its most successful exclusive title onto its latest and greatest console. I can’t think of anything better than re-playing The Last of Us with improved graphics; in fact, it’s a secret fantasy I’ve harboured ever since the PS4 launched here.

(Having played some of the Definitive Edition of Tomb Raider, I know what can be done by a dedicated developer to improve the shine of an already-good game for a new platform, and clearly, the PS4’s hardware can handle upgraded visuals.)

We do hope that Naughty Dog is indeed polishing and refining TLOU for a PS4 release, and as soon as there is an update, you’ll be the first to know.
