Watch Dogs’ creative director has told the world how long the game is on Twitter. According a tweet by Ubisoft’s Jonathan Morin that went out on Saturday, Watch Dogs will take the average player between 35 and 40 hours to complete.
But never fear, people who like games to last upwards of 100 hours: that estimate is only accurate if the player does a bit of free-roaming. If you’re the kind of person who likes to explore every nook and cranny of open-world games, doing all of the side-quests and activities in the game in addition to following the main story will take you “close 100h”.
@vytla102 I would say the average player which does free roam a bit tend to reach the end within 35-40h. But doing everything is close 100h.

No doubt the developers have been busy expanding on the world and adding extra content since Watch Dogs was delayed back in October 2013. Considering I finished Grand Theft Auto V’s story in a little over 20 hours with only a bit of side-questing and felt like it was money and time well-spent, Watch Dogs lasting between 35 and 40 hours for a similarly-paced playthrough is excellent news indeed.
Better yet, that time ignores the eight-player free-roam multiplayer that ships with the game. Up to eight people can stalk, hack and run away from each other, with successful hacks earning notoriety points, and players can utilise the entire game world in their cat-and-mouse games.
May 27 is still the launch date for Watch Dogs, and, according to Morin’s Twitter feed, that’s set in stone. Hooray!
@derdestix @watchdogsgame Ho IT IS coming on May 27th No doubt about it.
