Watch Sony outline its VR vision

At the Game Developer’s Conference that took place recently in San Francisco, Sony outlined its plan for virtual reality when it unveiled its work-in-progress VR headset, codenamed Project Morpheus.

The hour-long GDC presentation is now available to watch on YouTube, so if you want to hear Sony’s plans for the medium straight from the horse’s mouth, you totally can. The introduction is delivered by none other than Sony’s president of their worldwide studios, Shuhei Yoshida himself, while a few of Sony’s “technologists” provide the meat of the presentation.

They talk about what makes VR special, Sony’s unique position in the market and how they’re going to take advantage of it, early prototypes for the headset and the VR criteria Sony is aiming for to make it easy for developers to work with.

With the whole Oculus Rift/Facebook thing calling the future of Palmer Luckey’s VR solution into question, it’s been very comforting to know that other companies are also doing their bit to bring VR to the masses. And with Sony’s recent success with the PS4, there’s a good chance they won’t mess this up. That’s the hope, anyway.
