Office for iPad climbs to number one on iTunes

It only took 24 hours after launching to make Office for iPad apps the top free iPad apps on the iTunes App Store.

Microsoft Word is currently the number one free app, followed by Excel and Powerpoint. Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, tweeted about the news on Friday.

The charts are basically the same across the US and the South African App Stores, with the exception of the Standard Bank App coming in at number 4, bumping the redesigned Microsoft OneNote app to number 6.

Although these apps are free and users can view and present documents, creating and editing documents requires an Office 365 subscription.
