Dropbox now has 300 million users

Cloud storage service Dropbox has announced it now has 300 million users worldwide in a simple blog post titled “Thanks for helping us grow”.

The whole announcement is just one sentence long with the words “New notch on the wall.” accompanying an illustration of a white door with three notches on the side to mark each of its 100 million user milestones. (To put the user numbers into perspective, social media giant Twitter has just 255 million monthly active users worldwide.)

300-Million-Users-JPIt took Dropbox just six months to add its latest 100 million users after previously taking twice as long to make the jump from 100 million to 200 million in November last year.

Dropbox is of course no longer just a storage company having bought out email management app Mailbox last year and adding an Android version of its app to Google’s ecosystem recently along with a new photo management app called Carousel.
