Eight new innovative South African start-ups

Cape Town played host to another Lean Startup Machine event over the weekend, where teams, entrepreneurs and innovators participate in intensive workshops to learn how to build what their customers want.

“Lean Startup Machine (LSM) is a three-day workshop on building a successful business. Most new ventures fail because they build something no one wants. LSM teaches you a process for discovering which products will succeed in the marketplace and which won’t. LSM is an immersive, 48-hour educational experience, NOT a conference and NOT a hackathon,” the company explains.

Over the three days, various teams slogged it out to pitch their business ideas, learn about Best Practices for Solution Validation, and even learn from Lean case studies. Mentors for the event included Wayne Gosling, CEO of Groupon SA; Andrew Smith, MD of Yuppiechef; Kobus Ehlers, Co-founder of Snapscan; and George Golding, Co-Founder of Euphoria Telecom.

Below are some of the awesome start-up projects that originated from the event. It’s all very early days, but keep an eye out to which ones succeed.
