Facebook is reportedly trying a new video recommendation feature similar to the one YouTube uses to recommend related videos at the end of every video you watch on the site.
According to TechCrunch after you watch someone else’s video on your mobile News Feed, a carousel featuring recommended videos will pop up at the bottom. This is apparently a move to promote Facebook video content and get users to upload and watch more videos on the social network (and of course spend more time on it).
Recommending videos will also give Facebook the chance to bring in more advertisers and display sponsored videos in the recommendations carousel, which means cash in Facebook’s pockets.
The feature is apparently only being tested out among a select few Android and iOS users in the US for now and Facebook hasn’t given any indication of when the feature will officially be rolled out.
