BBM for Windows Phone beta is here

We have both good and bad news for Windows Phone users waiting to try their hands at BBM.

The good news is BlackBerry has revealed what you can expect when BBM officially launches for Windows Phone, and that the beta version is available for download.

Most of the basic BBM features are available on the Windows Phone beta version – you get the same interface design found on the BlackBerry, Android and iOS versions, and you’ll be able to have group chats and share photo albums within the group, share photos, voice notes, contacts and your location with your contacts, send Broadcast Messages (one message to more than one person) and swipe left and right between your contacts, chats and feeds.

BBM have also added a new feature – unique to Windows Phone – where you can pin a BBM contact to the Start menu for easy access, taking you directly to the chat window when you tap on it. Stickers, BBM Voice and BBM Channels will follow in the next few months.

The bad news is that for now, BBM’s list of participants signed up to test the beta version is already full. You can, however, still sign in if you’re a member of BlackBerry Beta Zone or be added to a waiting list.
