Have COD, will travel: Joburg LAN registration opens up

MWEB will host an Xbox-only Call of Duty: Ghosts competition next weekend (19 & 20 July) in Johannesburg, and it’s open for registration.

There is space for up to 16 teams of four to compete for their share of R10 000 worth of prizes (Kalahari.com vouchers and assorted Red Bull merch) so if you and your Xbox Live buddies work like a well-oiled machine and regularly find yourselves on top of your online competition, you should all definitely consider signing up.

Registration is free, but you will need to get to the venue yourself and bring your Xbox 360, controller, headset, screen and a copy of the game.

If you’re part of a Cape Town based COD team and you’d like to guarantee a spot in the competition, MWEB will give you preferential treatment since you’ll be flying up for the LAN. You just need to tell them you’re coming from Cape Town when you register, provide proof of your planned and paid for travel plans and they will ensure you’re chosen as one of the 16 teams to take part. At least, that’s what the press release we received says.

You’ll need to hurry, though, registrations close on Monday the 14th of July.

Here are the details:

Registration

Deadline: 14 July 2014
Event dates: 19-20 July
Cost: Free
Tournament venue: Media Park (Media24), 69 Kingsway, Auckland Park
How to register: Team captains must email gamesevents@mweb.com with the following details:

  • Team Name
  • List of players, including names, surname, age and alias (gamertag)
  • Clear indication of captain within the team
