Fifteen teens chosen to compete for the ultimate Google Science Fair prize

Fifteen teenagers from around the world have been announced as the finalist for this year’s Google Science Fair, a worldwide competition that calls on teens with big ideas a chance to win big prizes in regional, age and global categories.

The finalists in the age 13 – 14 group are:

  • Марк Дробнич, Ukraine
  • Pranav Sivakumar, USA
  • Mihir Garimella, USA
  • Gregory Martin, USA
  • Trisha Prabhu, USA

The finalists in the age 15 – 16 group are:

  • Arsh Dilbagi, India
  • Samuel Burrow, UK
  • Ciara Judge, Émer Hickey and Sophie Healy-Thow, Ireland
  • Eswar Anandapadmanaban, USA
  • Kenneth Shinozuka, USA

The finalists in the age 17- 18 group are:

  • Cynthia Sin Nga Lam, Australia
  • Анастасия Коровянская, Russia
  • Guillaume Rolland, France
  • Hayley Todesco, Canada
  • Daniela Lee and Sadhika Malladi, USA

Unfortunately no students from Africa were chosen this year.

These finalists go will on to compete in thier respective age groups at Google HQ to win in the Age Category Awards and the ultimate Grand Prize Award. The Voter’s Choice Award opens to the public on 1st September, and you can pick your favourite in each age group on the Google Science Fair website. (Winners will be announced at a ceremony on 23rd September.)  

This year’s grand prize features the chance to join the Virgin Galactic team at Spaceport America in New Mexico as they prepare for space flight, a 10-day trip to the Galapagos Islands aboard the National Geographic Endeavour and a full year’s digital access to Scientific American magazine for the winner’s school.

Age category winners will have a choice between going behind the scenes at the LEGO factory in Billund, Denmark or a trip to either a Google office or National Geographic HQ.
