Hacking for good: WordPress Cape Town event to benefit local charities

WordPress Cape Town, a community of WordPress developers and users based in and around the Mother City, will be hosting the Do Action: WordPress Charity Hackathon at the BandWidth Barn later this month.

WordPress Cape Town will spend one day building brand new websites for ten charities which will hopefully give them a stronger online presence, helping to get more info across and provide a way for donors (both internationally and locally) to give using a PayFast donation widget.

The good news is that the event is not only for developers – creating a website is far more than just the technical aspects. Designers, content creators and social media managers are all invited to take part in the charity hackathon.

The Do Action: WordPress Charity Hackathon takes place on 23rd August from 9:00am to 17:00pm. If you are interested in taking part in it, or know someone in the Cape Town area who would be, head over to the WordPress Cape Town site. All you’ll need is a laptop and GitHub user account.
