Lens flares and rugby games: a match made in heaven?

After a very close victory over Argentina this  weekend, the Boks might appreciate the chance to try out some new tactics with Rugby 15, an upcoming rugby game for the PS4, Xbox One, PC, both previous-gen consoles and the PlayStation Vita.

Sadly, they’ll have to play with French or English teams, as Rugby 15 is all about European leagues Pro D2, the Aviva Championship and TOP 14.

Rugby 15 is the first rugby game that will appear on the two new consoles, and developer Bigben Interactive has put out a teaser trailer via press release showing running, scrumming, line-outs and place-kicking, complete with all sorts of lens-flare effects that wouldn’t look out of place in a JJ Abrams movie.

The only thing that worried me was the immobile ball as it sailed towards the uprights, but otherwise the brief scenes from the game show it looking pretty good.

For those hankering after a game featuring the Boks, the last one to have them in was 2011’s Rugby Championship, but EA will almost certainly have them as a playable team when the inevitable game tie-in with the Rugby World Cup happens next year.

In the meantime, you can play Rugby 15 in November this year.
