See 11 minutes of someone actually playing Assassin’s Creed: Unity

We’ve seen a lot of footage of Assassin’s Creed V: Unity in action, but it’s always been slick and pre-produced. This time around, Ubisoft has shown off eleven minutes of someone playing through a mission in the game, so it’s a lot more organic and a better representation of how the final game will play.

It was apparently captured on an Xbox One, and it looks fantastic. Good enough that my own worries of the Xbox One underperforming on the graphics side of things are mostly allayed. I reserve the right to still be a teensy bit cynical about it until I have my own Xbox One to play.

You’ll see Arno being given a contract, and then fulfilling it his own way. He must infiltrate the Notre Dame cathedral – there are several ways in – while dodging guards so he can meet and take out his quarry in the confessional (or wherever else he’d like to, it’s entirely up to the player).

The demo does a great job of showing off just how open the world is, how good it looks and how fluid the new parkour system is (particularly the “jumping down the side of buildings” bits). That chief parkour officer dude is really earning his keep.

Good job, Ubisoft.
