Accenture and Microsoft among SA’s top employers

Accenture South Africa, Microsoft South Africa and SAP Africa are good companies to work for if you are in the local tech sector, says the Top Employers Institute (TEI).

TEI is an international HR certifier based in the Netherlands which surveys and certifies companies in 70 countries around the world.

The two companies were featured on the TEI top 10 employers in South Africa for 2014, with Unilever South Africa being named as the top employer. Below is the full list:

  1. Unilever SA
  2. Accenture SA
  3. Ernst & Young
  4. Old Mutual
  5. Microsoft SA
  6. SAP Africa
  7. Tata Consultancy Services
  8. Coca Cola SA
  9. Kimberly-Clark SA
  10. Clicks and Sasol

Top employer status is awarded to companies that achieve the highest standards of excellence in employee conditions such as HR and talent strategies, policy implementation, monitoring and reporting, and leadership development.

“Each of these organisations demonstrated a forward-thinking Human Resources environment that is continuously working to optimise its employee conditions and leading the way in the development of its people,” TEI said.

“Accenture South Africa has been certified by the Top Employers Institute for the sixth consecutive year for our excellent employee offering, which includes our working conditions and the way in which we look after our employees,” said Accenture SA on their website. “The recognition Accenture receives reinforces the value we place on our people and their personal and professional growth.”

Nearly all of the companies on the list are international, with branches in South Africa and not originally South African companies. It would be interesting to know which companies founded and operating in the country are also ranked as top employers.
