Play ten PC games for free this weekend on Steam

Free games are the best kind, and PC gaming storefront Steam knows this. That’s why nearly every weekend there’s a game or two that you can play, for free, between Thursday and Sunday.

This weekend, IGN says they’re doing something brand new with the promotion: they’re going to be offering TEN games to play for free until Sunday. And not just really stale or really old (or both) games like Microsoft offers its Xbox Live Gold members twice a month, these games are actually pretty damn good.

Check out the list:

  • Awesomenauts
  • Blade Symphony
  • Company of Heroes 2
  • Don’t Starve
  • GRID 2
  • Injustice: Gods Among Us
  • Killing Floor
  • Payday 2
  • Trine 2
  • XCOM: Enemy Unknown

Highlights for me are GRID 2 and Injustice, games I’ve been eyeing for my PC collection that I just haven’t taken the plunge on yet. If you haven’t played XCOM: Enemy Unknown yet you should totally give it a shot for the turn-based strategic goodness if offers, or if that isn’t your thing then definitely grab Company of Heroes 2 instead, a real-time strategy game that will challenge your manual dexterity and real-time planning skills.

Fans of games that can be played with friends rather than against them will appreciate Payday 2, Trine 2 and Killing Floor, as they all have co-operative multiplayer features.

All games will be offered for a discount over the weekend as well, so if you try and you like them, you can pick them up for a lot less than their listed prices. There’s no word on by how much each will be discounted, though, so you’ll need to wait for 7pm tonight when the offer goes live.

Ah, ’tis so good to be a PC gamer.
