Can your PC run Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare?

The required PC specs for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare have been added to the game’s Steam page, and they are surprisingly beefy.

You’re going to need at least 6GB of system RAM, a video card capable of running DirectX 11 (so one bought in the last 3 years or so) and a whopping 55GB of hard drive space. Of them all, it’s the 6GB of RAM that surprises me the most as it’s an unusual amount. Fortunately most gaming PCs that I’ve come across have a minimum of 8GB so this shouldn’t be a problem. And if it is, it’s nothing a quick R600 upgrade can’t solve.

Other requirements include an Intel Core i3 or AMD Phenom II X4 processor, a broadband internet connection and 64-bit Windows 7 or 8. The 64-bit OS requirement isn’t particularly unusual as anyone with over 4GB of RAM already runs a 64-bit OS, and if they don’t they’re a bit dof as it’s required to make use of more than 3.3GB of RAM. There’s your technical tidbit for the day.

Here the specs are in full, pulled straight from the COD:AW Steam page:

  • OS: OS: Windows 7 64-Bit / Windows 8 64-Bit / Windows 8.1 64-Bit
  • Processor: Intel® CoreTM i3-530 @ 2.93 GHz / AMD PhenomTM II X4 810 @ 2.60 GHz or better
  • Memory: 6 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTS 450 @ 1GB / ATI® Radeon™ HD 5870 @ 1GB or better
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Hard Drive: 55 GB available space
  • Sound Card: DirectX-compatible
  • Additional Notes: Field of View ranges from 65°-90°

That it will take up 55GB on your hard drive is rather encouraging, as it seems to imply juicy high-res texture, complex levels and 3D models, all of which adds up to astonishing levels of visual detail. At least, that’s my hope.

Activision also released a launch trailer, despite there still being over two weeks before the game actually launches. It looks pretty good (and goodly pretty), and you should really check it out. If nothing else, it’ll motivate you to get your PC in order if you’re a PC gamer, because damn, them’s some tasty graphics.
