New Unity patch promises “over three hundred fixes”, coming Wednesday

Developers over at Ubisoft have been hard at work fixing Assassin’s Creed: Unity, and will release the third big patch for the game on Wednesday that aims to deliver “over three hundred fixes”. This is according to the live blog the company started to keep gamers informed of patch progress.

The patch update notes say the fixes are “designed to improve your Assassin’s Creed: Unity experience”.

One of the most egregious problems, frame rate issues across all platforms, is not one of the planned fixes, however. The update says that Ubisoft will tackle that with a future update, but no projected release date has been announced yet. On the bright side, they do note that players might notice “some improvements to framerate as a result of Patch 3”.

PC players will be happy to hear that Patch 3 fixes save game corruption (in some cases), some issues that arise when running multiple NVIDIA graphics cards and crashes in the Character Customisation menu. There are also a few “minor UI improvements”.

Ubi focused on stability and performance on all platforms and tweaked some of the game’s core gameplay elements like cover, camera issues, haystack problems and getting stuck on random scenery. This should mean that the chances of getting stuck, or cover not working as expected will be a lot smaller from Wednesday.

A fourth patch is apparently already in the works. While I’m a bit bleak that the game was released in such a poor state, I’m only too pleased to see Ubisoft working as hard as they are to fix everything.
