[WATCH] Awesome new pan-African tech TV show launches on [ED] tonight

You know what there just aren’t enough of? Good shows about technology on TV. Covering games, gadgets, tech entrepreneurs and the world of hardware hacking on screen is tough, and few master the art of balancing getting the facts right while keeping the viewer interested successfully. But if you’re currently despairing at the lack of good shows out there, here’s one that might just make you smile.

It’s called EDGE and it’s launching on the revamped channel [ED] tonight. And the reason we’re plugging it and think you should watch it is that we’ve helped to make it – and will continue to do so week in, week out for the foreseeable future. It’s fronted by the lovely Danine Naidoo – ex of  Hectic Nine-9 and SABC 3’s Expresso – and put together by a great team at Urban Brew Studios in Randburg.

Our role as editorial partner is to help EDGE spot the stories that are really interesting way before anyone else, and make sure the technical stuff is informative, relevant and top notch without becoming baffling. Various htxt.africa staffers will also be talking you through reviews and how-tos each episode.

Episode one airs tonight at 7pm on [ED], which you’ll find at channel 190 on DStv and channel 65 on goTV for the rest of the continent.

Hopefully you’ll enjoy it, and it’s well worth watching out for the rest of the new season line-up on [ED]. From what we’ve seen, the channel bosses are doing a really good job working towards being the continent’s best creator of locally relevant documentaries and ‘real world’ reportage. In its first year, [ED] has built up a sizeable audience of around five million and refined its mandate. Well worth keeping an eye on.
