Find out how to hack the internet of things at Sci-Bono tomorrow

You’ve heard all about the internet of things but not entirely sure what it is or how to use it? Now’s your chance for a bit of hands-on experience. As part of Maker Faire Africa at the Sci-Bono Discovery Centre tomorrow, Intel is hosting a two day workshop and hackathon based around connected sensors and low cost prototyping.

You’ll get hands on expert advice from Intel folk on how to use its Galileo and Edison development boards – and the cost to you is nothing. All you have to do is sign up over here.

From the event info:

On Friday, 5 December 2014 Intel will be hosting a Hack-a-thon which kicks off at 10.00am and runs through to Saturday at 4.00pm. This Hack-a-thon is aimed at developers, entrepreneurs, artists and inventors. The Intel Galileo Gen 2 board and development platform will be showcased during this workshop.

Makers built Intel by envisioning a world of possibilities and instilling a deep connection to innovation. Intel has long been a company of makers. The Maker Movement provides a parallel, hands-on framework to build similar creative confidence in young people and technology related subjects. The Hackathon workshop is based on Intel Galileo platform.

The Intel® Galileo and Intel® Edison products are designed around the Maker mentality of adventurous, passionate creation. Intel are specifically targeting two segments within Makers: Intel® Galileo targets DIY Makers – hobbyists and students (elementary to university), while Intel® Edison targets Pro Makers – entrepreneurs and commercial creators.
