iPad Air 2 and Mini 3 now available from FNB

The latest generation of tablets from Apple have been available in South Africa from all of the normal distribution channels for a few weeks now, but the 500 pound gorilla in the room has always been FNB whose biggest selling item in its Smart Devices portfolio has always been Apple’s iPads.

FNB announced that it will be offering both the iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini 3, in WiFi and cellular configuration only, on its 24 month Smart Devices deals starting at R405 per month for the 16GB iPad Mini 3 and going up to R575 a month for the 128GB iPad Air 2.

All of the iPads are latched onto a 24 month MyGig 2 data contract from Vodacom that provides 2GB of anytime data along with an additional 2GB of Night Owl data each month. The MyGig 2 normally costs R99 a month which explains why the FNB contracts work out to be roughly R2 400 to R2 500 more expensive over the course of the 24 month contracts than buying it for cash from the iStore.
