Minecraft gets a new game with an actual story

Minecraft is probably one of the ugliest games around, but it is definitely one of the most addictive, with gamers spending thousands of hours building, crafting and mining stuff in all its 8-bit glory.

Well, the good people at TellTale Games, who are behind successful titles like The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, are giving you brand new Minecraft game. While they can’t promise that the graphics will be much better, it will have an actual story line – which is super cool.

“Minecraft: Story Mode will be an all-new narrative-driven game series developed by Telltale in collaboration with Mojang. Set in the world of Minecraft, the series will feature an original story, driven by player choice. It will not be an add-on for Minecraft, but rather a separate stand-alone product that will premiere in 2015 on consoles, computers and mobile devices,” Telltale Games said in a media statement.

Just like pretty much all of Telltale’s games, it will be released in a collection of short games.

“Minecraft: Story Mode will be released episodically, just like The Wolf Among Us, The Walking Dead, or the recent Tales from the Borderlands, which is another developer-collaboration series between Telltale Games and Gearbox Software,” Minecraft developer Mojang explained.

As for the plot of the game or what happens to ‘Steve’, Mojang is not saying. “We’re not intending on creating an “official” story for Steve, or explaining the world of Minecraft in detail. It will be a cool game.”
