Last year LG released the G Flex, a self-healing, flexible smartphone that was a showcase for some of the next generation technology that LG was working on at its battery and display divisions. This year, the company has released a follow up version called the G Flex 2.
The hardware issues that we had with last year’s phone should all be forgiven with the new G Flex 2. The POLED display is now a full 1080p resolution over its 5.5 inch surface and still has the ability to curve without breaking. The battery has decreased to 3 000mAh battery from 3 500mAh but with the quick charging supplied from Qualcomm it should be able to regenerate more than quickly enough from most.
It will be powered by the 64-bit eight core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with either 2GB or 3GB of RAM with 16GB or 32GB of storage, similar to the options in its G3 smartphone. Also like the G3, the 13 megapixel camera will feature optical image stabilisation (OIS+) as well as laser autofocus which we found to be fantastic in our review of the G3. Operating system wise it will feature the latest from Google in the form of Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The self-healing back plastic cover has been given a new treatment which LG says will decrease thee amount of time it takes to heal minor scratches from the original 3 minutes down to just 10 seconds.
