Lessons from a floral startup – catch NetFlorist founder in Joburg tonight

Just to be clear, I’m one of those that really hates NetFlorist‘s radio ads with their lazy camp stereotype speakers, but with that out of the way it is a company to admire. It’s one of the few online stores in South Africa that makes internet shopping easy and simple, on a par with its overseas rivals in Europe or the US.

Same day delivery? Check. Lower prices than bricks’n’mortar stores? Check. Chocolate cupcakes? Check.

Which raises the question, why do so many local online stores struggle to get their range and service right? If knew, I wouldn’t be a journalist, I’d be in ecommerce. But I do know a man who might be able to answer those questions: NetFlorist founder Ryan Bacher.

And if you’re curious too, you can ask him yourself at tonight’s StartupGrind session. He’ll be speaking from 6.30pm at Innovatec Africa, just off of Rivonia Road in Sandown, and there’s still tickets available.

Book your place here, directions to the event here.
