Nintendo Kids Club website here to entertain and inform

Nintendo has taken the wraps off of a rather elaborate microsite that contains everything kids and parents need to know about the company, its games, characters and consoles.

It’s called the Nintendo Kids’ Club, and as well as containing all sorts of Nintendo information, kids can play games, create and decorate Nintendo-themed projects, watch videos, learn about Miis and much more on the site.

There are even eleven episodes of The Cat Mario Show for kids to watch.

Parents should find it a very handy, kid-friendly resource to keep young ones occupied over the upcoming school holidays. You’re on your own for bigger children and teenagers, though.

There’s also a lot of useful information for parents interested in finding out more about gaming in general, Nintendo as a company and parental controls that help keep small children from seeing things they shouldn’t. To access that, click the bit that says “Grown ups section, Get involved!”.

No signup is required, and access is only conditional on owning an internet-enabled computer, phone or tablet.

Of course, you wouldn’t be wrong in thinking that the site is just a giant advert for Nintendo and its services, aimed at spreading the gospel of Mario, but I can hardly fault them for trying.

Just don’t be surprised if you hear little voices subtly (or not so subtly) encouraging you to buy a Wii or Wii U after spending some time there.
