If you’ve been annoyed by the fact that the Xbox 360 hasn’t been able to see more than 32GB of removable storage space even if you plug in an external drive with more, you are in for a pleasant surprise.

Microsoft is currently beta-testing an update that will let the 360 see and use up to 2TB of external storage space according to Eurogamer.

Should you be signed up for the Xbox 360 dashboard beta programme, the next time you sign into your Xbox 360 it will download an update that will grant you the opportunity to plug in and use external hard drives of up to 2TB in capacity.

Eurogamer also wrote that the update will change how the 360 allocates space. “The update also removes the Xbox 360’s previous method of reserving hard drive space in advance, to maximise the amount of free room on your drive.”

That means you’ll get a number of gigabytes to use that’s closer to the actual capacity of any sub-2TB external storage you plug in. Nice!

But best of all, this update will – finally! – let you download and install every single one of the games you own digitally for the 360 if you have a 2TB drive, and not have to juggle between the various Flash drives and memory cards you probably have occupying the 360’s ports since you ran out of space on the 360’s tiny 250GB drive ages ago.

If you’re not a part of the beta programme, don’t worry because in two weeks, the update will roll out to everyone.
