Can you help this Tembisa NPO build a website?

For the next three weeks we’re running a trial here at htxt.africa. We’ve teamed up with volunteer matching website forgood to help promote opportunities for techies and geeks to put their skills to positive use by giving up a few hours to help a needy cause. You can read more about forgood and what it does here, and this week’s cause below.

The Tembisa-based Life4U Foundation is a non-profit which focusses on poverty relief in the Ivory Park area. We asked founder Simon Molekwa (pictured above) to describe his appeal in three quick soundbites.

What do you need?

The Life4U Foundation needs a volunteer to build a website for our organisation.

We would love to have a website where we can showcase what we do. We need a web designer who can work from home – anywhere in South Africa – to set this up for us. Virtual volunteering!

Who are you?

Life4U Foundation helps promote good hygiene at schools by cleaning school toilets and educating learners on good hygiene habits with engaging talks and learning sessions. We focus on schools in Ivory Park, Tembisa and surrounding areas.

What difference will this make?

We need to reach out to as many people as we can – and we need to do this online. Currently our marketing is mostly done by word of mouth, and by us going to see schools.  We are also approaching new sponsors, and we would like to use our website to show them what we are doing and the impact we’re having.

From our own experience we have also encountered many “fake” organisations and we want to make sure people know we are legitimate. A website will really help with that.

And here’s how you can help…

Visit the forgood website here and offer your services. If you’re not a web designer and are looking for a volunteering challenge, you’ll find dozens of other causes to help on its pages. Causes supported by forgood are vetted for authenticity.
