As the days become a bit chillier in the evenings, Eskom announced this afternoon that loadshedding will come into effect from 17:00 today.
This will make it the twelfth consecutive day that South Africans have been left in the dark.
Eskom will implement stage 1 load shedding from 17:00 today, which is likely to continue until 22:00 this evening

The announcement comes after Eskom said this morning that things aren’t looking too great in terms of the power situation for this evening.
Please note that the load_shedding prognosis for the evening is high and is dependent on the performance of #Eskom‘s power plant. — Eskom Hld SOC Ltd (@Eskom_SA) April 23, 2015
Eskom’s newly-appointed Acting CEO Brian Molefe yesterday said the utility didn’t foresee any loadshedding over the upcoming long weekend. He also added that Eskom will be embarking on what it called a “maintenance festival” as it tries to maintain South Africa’s ailing power grid.
#Eskommaintenancefestival refers to a big push on maintenance over the long weekend as demand is typical lower during such periods.
