Will you pay R16k for Samsung’s new Galaxy S6 Edge?

Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and its Edge variant was announced to much fanfare during this year’s Mobile World Congress and while many can’t wait to get their hands on the Korean giant’s latest smartphone, it looks like they’ll now have to fork out a pretty penny for the privilege.

According to the latest price list released by Vodacom, a 64GB version of the Galaxy S6 Edge LTE will be R16 149 if you want to buy it, cash up front. If you are thinking of picking it up on a contract, the company says that it will have the phone available from 10 April on Vodacom Smart S for R679 per month.

As a small consolation, it will come with a free wireless charger and cover worth R1 100, as well as an additional 3GB of anytime data over 3 months (1GB per month for three months).

Looking to pick up the Galaxy S6 LTE 32GB, of which the Gold one is exclusive to Vodacom? Well, for a cash price of R12 399 it can be all yours. Going to contract route, you will be able to get it for R529 per month (Vodacom Smart S).

It too comes with an additional 3GB of anytime data over 3 months, and will also be available on 10 April.

When the iPhone 6 was announced, it was made available through FNB for R9 899 for the 16GB version, while the 64GB version was R10 999.

On Vodacom, the 64GB version was R12999 cash and R569 per month on Vodacom Smart S.
