Facebook’s internet.org free access expands to Malawi

Mobile users in Malawi are the latest to get access to free basic internet services from Mark Zuckerberg’s internet.org.

For the first time, internet.org will be available through multiple operators – a clear attempt to combat criticism that it favours one operator per country. Zuckerberg’s Facebook post announcing the rollout in Malawi notes that “With this launch, internet.org is now available to more than 1 billion people around the world!”

iternet.org is backed primarily by Facebook with firms like Nokia, Samsung and Qualcomm as partners. In Malawi, services will be available through TNM and Airtel.
