Fujifilm XT-10 hands-on: all the X-T1’s good bits for less

There is no arguing that Fujifilm’s X-T1 is a great camera that’s part of a great system (at least two htxt.africa staffers have bought into the X-series system over the last year).  it has done wonders for the Fujifilm’s camera sales over the last year. One just has to have a look at recent stats coming out of 500PX where the most uploads to the site came from X-T1 users.

The price of the X-T1, at northward of R16 000, put the flagship sadly out of the range of the average buyer.

So, if you are a fan and you have been hoping that a cheaper version of the X-T1 may come out then your prayers have been answered. The company has just revealed the XT-10 interchangeable lens camera, featuring a 16.3-megapixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS II sensor (with built-in phase detection autofocus), an EXR Processor II and compatibility with Fujinon lenses.

We got our hands on the first to hit South African shores this morning, and after only a few hours with it, I can tell you that it is shaping up to be one of the best releases this year. It is compact and built like a tank. It has the typical retro-look of all Fuji’s cameras, with magnesium plates on the top and bottom and a black faux-leather finish in between. This is basically a smaller, lighter X-T1.

The XT-10 features the revamped AF system that we wrote about last week, which is supposed to solve many of the focusing and low light issues. So far it has been spot on and the image quality is looking really good. The X-T10 also shoots 1080p video at up to 60fps.

Obviously we need to put this camera through its paces properly. We will have a full review and sample images from the Fujifilm XT-10 in the next few days.
