New Microsoft Office apps arrive for Android smartphones

Microsoft has launched its Microsoft Office apps on the the Google Play Store, meaning Android users can now access all of them using their smart devices.

Microsoft Office for Android smartphones has been in preview phase for the past five weeks, with over 1 900 mobiles from 83 countries had signed up during the period.

According to Microsoft, feedback from previewers assisted the company in making a few adjustments to the apps to make it easier to navigate commands in the user interface.

“We made it easier to connect to other popular third-party storage offerings like Google Drive and Box, as well as many usability adjustments,” the company said.

Features on Microsoft Office for Android smartphone pretty much mirror those on all the other mobile apps. You can review and edit documents and read and post comments on them, conduct PowerPoint presentation straight from your phone and access documents you were working on from your PC as well as those stored on Dropbox, Google Drive or Box.

Microsoft also said it’s partnered with the likes of Samsung, LG, Sony and other electronics manufacturers to have the apps pre-installed on Android smartphones that will be released later this year.

In the meantime, you can simply download Word, Excel and PowerPoint on your phone, right now.
