Holiday hackathon for Durban kids includes Minecraft modding course

The winter holidays are here and many of us are looking for the best ways to keep the little ones busy and entertained. And you what kids would love to do? Learn how to mod Minecraft and hack their PC in other – inevitably – less interesting ways for a week. Which is what they can do in a five day tech course offered by ITvarsity which kicks off in ten days at Durban’s Musgrave Centre.

Interested? Of course you are. According to the organisers, your child could kill the holiday blues by learning:

  • advanced computer skills
  • coding skills
  • the ability to think algorithmically
  • about modern technologies
  • ability to think critically
  • problem-solving skills
  • to work collaboratively in teams

Children have a choice between specially designed five day courses on basic robotics, computer game development, mobile app development, web design, computer graphic design, IC3 certification, computer animation and Minecraft modding. They also get to choose to join a morning group (8:30am until 12:00pm) or an afternoon group (12:30pm until 16:00pm) for their lessons.

Detailed course descriptions are available on the ITvarsity website where you can enroll by completing the CompuKids booking form. Courses cost R995 per 5 day workshop.
