[INFOGRAPHIC] How does Google Translate compare to human translation?

As the world becomes more connected the need for translation services has grown at a rather stunning rate.

There are a number of online translation services (like Google Translate) that will get the job done in a pinch, and even a smartphone camera app (Word Lens) that translates text in real-time through augmented reality.

But how does the translations of machines compare to those of a professional, human translator?

Translation service VerbalInk set out to find the answer to that question and it’s created the infographic below to demonstrate the results.

“We enlisted two of our Spanish translators, Adriana and Gaby, to participate in a two-part test. For the first test, Google Translate and Adriana were required to translate a promotional document about Argentina’s National Beekeeping Council from Spanish into English. For the second test, both contenders had to translate approximately one minute of spoken Spanish audio into English,” the company explained.
