A Day in the Woods is making the most of its second chance

Back in May we noted that the South African-developed iOS game A Day in the Woods was being given a second chance at success, through its selection for inclusion in Pocket Gamer’s Unsung Heroes competition.

We’ve just been informed over email by RetroEpic, the studio behind the game, that A Day in the Woods has made it to the competition’s semi-finals, and is now one of just 22 games up for consideration for the final prize thanks to the votes it’s received, down from the initial list of 300 games.

At stake is a $50 000 marketing campaign for the game, which could potentially push its sales up big time. As the Unsung Heroes campaign heads toward the finals, A Day in the Woods is still counting on public votes to take it all the way, so head over there to vote for it (and consider telling a friend or two!).

But that’s not all; RetroEpic also mentioned that A Day in the Woods has also been highly rated by Pocket Gamer’s sister site, Qi (which stands for Quality Index), making it to number four on the site’s list of the best iOS games of the past three months. That’s a pretty impressive achievement.

Finally, the game is currently being prepared for release on Android, a fact that should draw even more interest in the game. It’s scheduled for release – “barring any cataclysmic events’ – for July 30th, and it will cost $4.99 (R62 or so) there as well.

Nicely done, RetroEpic, and good luck making it to the finals!
