The gripping cover page tweeted by New York Magazine, picturing 35 women who were allegedly sexually abused by American TV personality Bill Cosby, may be behind the publication’s website crash, which lasted for most of Monday.
@NYMag tweeted a photo of its July 27-August 9 issue featuring the women who have alleged sexual abuse at the hands of the famous comedian over a period dating as far back as the 60s.

The cover shows each woman seated on a chair, arranged chronologically according to the dates of the alleged assaults. The bottom of the cover features an empty chair and the title: “Cosby: The Women. An Unwelcome Sisterhood”.
The tweet was followed by a series of additional tweets with individual photos of some of the women and quotes from their interviews.

At the time of writing, nymag.com had been down for hours ever since the photo was tweeted. The company said it was working to fix the issue.
Our site is experiencing technical difficulties. We are aware of the issue, and working on a fix. — New York Magazine (@NYMag) July 27, 2015
Earlier this month, documents were unsealed revealing that Cosby had admitted to drugging a number of young women with the sedative drug Quaaludes before having sex with them.
The NYMag cover comes out on the eve of South Africa’s Women’s Month. The country will celebrate its women on August 9.
