The LG G4: Visuals to die for

With all of the focus given to the processing power, memory and camera resolution of today’s smartphones, you’d be forgiven for thinking that these are the only things you should consider when selecting your next companion device.

Ironically though, the one part of the smartphone you interact with at all times (regardless of what feature you’re using), namely the touch screen, should be just as important in the decision.

It’s no surprise then, that LG held nothing back when it chose a screen to accompany its new, iconic smartphone, the G4.

In terms of raw specifications, the G4’s 5.5-inch IPS Quantum Display offers 20 percent greater colour reproduction, 25 percent improvement in brightness and 50 percent greater contrast than the display LG used in its previous hero-phone, the G3.

It is the first Quad HD display to employ Advanced In-Cell Touch (AIT) technology, which combines the LCD and touch sensor into a single layer to provide better colour reproduction and touch sensitivity.

From a technical perspective that’s remarkable. From a user perspective, that means the screen is more responsive to touch based input, and among other things allows for the photos taken on the G4’s amazing 16MP camera and F1.8 lens combo.

The same quality statement is true when it comes to video playback. The G4’s new display is calibrated for DCI (Digital Cinema Initiatives) standards for colour expression, championed by top Hollywood studios.

That means Hollywood blockbusters look the way they should on your G4, and with more and more users enjoying their visual entertainment on mobile devices, this is very important.

You’d think that a display of this quality and raw power would destroy the G4’s battery life.

But, the G4’s 3000mAh battery and power efficient Snapdragon 808 processor do a great job of keeping consumption so low, you’ll get through a full day’s normal use without a hitch.

It all rounds out into the perfect package, which is unsurprising considering the very favourable response the phone has received in market so far…

To see what else the G4 has to offer – aside from it’s incredible display, of course – visit the LG G4 product page.
