WhatsApp for iOS gets cheaper call setting and video backup

iOS WhatsApp users can now make use of the call settings feature that allows you to spend less data on phone calls through the service, after the instant messaging received its latest update, bringing a host of other additions.

By heading over to the settings menu you can lower the amount of data you use when making a phone call to one of your contacts by simply turning on the “low data usage” function.

You can also now back up videos sent in your conversations via the chat back up settings, mark incoming messages as read (which can come as a handy reminder to read messages you may not have had time to read earlier on) and share your location via Apple Maps.

Older messages in your conversations will now load automatically instead of you having to tap the “load earlier messages” option and cropping photos and videos has become better with an improved new design.

Download or update WhatsApp for iOS from the App Store.

The call feature was released for Android first, but sadly for Android users the update that lets them set Low Data Usage for calls is not yet out, so they will need to wait a bit longer for it.
