The premise is very simple: between 10:00 and 16:00 today (September 8th) you can open up the Uber app, select the ‘UberFORGOOD’ option and a driver will soon be along to collect the donations.
forgood is looking for clothes, household items, appliances, electronics, non-perishable foods and car seats for small children. The only requirement it asks of good samaritans is that clothing is put into bags while any other donations are boxed and clearly labelled.
We absolutely love the idea of this drive: it allows people to donate to just causes without having to take time off of work or even spend money on transport to get to where the donations are accepted.
Because we like to test things out before we suggest them to you, not thirty minutes ago a very friendly Uber driver showed up at our offices to collect donations we had gathered from Spring cleaning our homes; which is the theme of this event.
Our editor Nick and writer Clinton (that’s me!) can be seen looking gormless while loading the car. There’s a reason we write words and don’t show up on camera, folks. The Uber driver was very photogenic, though.
This is another in a long line of Uber’s unique and interesting events. The last one we partook in was getting ice cream on one of the coldest days of the year.
