Star Fox Zero delayed until 2016

If you’re a Wii U owner excited about the prospect of playing Star Fox Zero this year – you know, the one high-profile console exclusive Nintendo had planned for its console this year – then we have some bad news for you.

Nintendo has announced that Star Fox Zero will be delayed until the first quarter of 2016. In a message to fans on Nintendo’s official Facebook page, game designer and all-round nice guy, Shigeru Miyamoto apologised to fans, saying that the delay was due to the game needing a little more polish before it was ready for release.

“While we have already reached the stage where it would be technically possible to release the title in time for the year-end holiday season, we want to polish the game a bit more so that players will be able to more smoothly grasp the new style of play that we are proposing,” Miyamoto wrote.

“To the people looking forward to the launch of the game this holiday season, I am very sorry,” he said.

Miyamoto went on to say that the new game would offer a whole host of ‘unprecedented’ experiences for gamers and that it would be released early next year. So there you go: no Star Fox Zero for you this Christmas. Bah, humbug!

Incidentally, we have to ask all the Wii U owners out there whether or not they’re feeling a little cheated after investing in Nintendo’s new console and will any of you be buying the next machine it ships? Answers on a postcard please (actually, just below this article).
