Rejoice fans of Zerg, Terran and Protoss warfare: Blizzard has announced that Starcraft 2: The Legacy Of The Void will be released on November 10th of this year.

The publishing giant revealed the new expansion pack’s release date during the finals of the Starcraft World Championship Series, and showed off its opening cinematic, which admittedly, looks rather luscious.

Starcraft 2: Legacy Of The Void follows Wings Of Liberty and Heart Of The Swarm and its campaign component will centre on the Protoss race – the first two focussed on the Terran and Zerg respectively. If you’re not up to speed on the game’s lore thus far, all you have to know is that the Protoss are trying to retake their homeworld from the Zerg, a race of nasty aliens with a taste for Terran and Protoss flesh.

As with every single game that rolls off Blizzard’s assembly line, Legacy Of The Void has been meticulously balanced to within an inch of its existence – the closed beta for the game opened in March of this year giving fans and eSports pros alike the chance to get to grips with the expansion’s new units.

The game is also going to be released in three formats – digitally, in box format and in a super deluxe Collector’s Edition, which comes packaged with a whole host of goodies including the game’s soundtrack, a behind the scenes DVD and a book of artwork from the game.

Hardcore Blizzard fans will have noticed that Legacy Of The Void’s street date comes just a couple of days after BlizzCon, so it’s more than likely attendees at Blizzard’s annual festival will be able to play at least a portion of it before release.
