The PlayStation gets a price cut, now costs R5 499 locally

Earlier today Sony announced, via the PlayStation Blog that the 500GB version of the PlayStation 4 would be getting a price cut in European countries, as well as Australia, New Zealand and the United Arab Emirates.

According to local site Lazy Gamer, South African distributor of the black console Ster-Kinekor confirmed that South Africans will be paying less for the machine too. The new RRP of the PS4 is R5 499, which is in line with the international prices of €349.99 (R5 317) and £299.99 (R6 204).

This seems like a smart move by Sony. With the holiday season coming up, a cheaper console may be the deciding factor when shoppers are deciding between Xbox and PlayStation.
