TractionBus R200k contest to help promote Gauteng’s hubs and startups ecosystem

Five Gauteng business incubation hubs will be taking part in the TractionBus competition that will see startups in the province being exposed to the world of entrepreneur hubs and promote a broader local startup ecosystem this November.

Organised by JoziHub-based pre-incubation company, Startup Edge, TractionBus will select 25 entrepreneurs that haven’t been part of any incubator before and allocate five each to a hub that best suits their needs and type of startup.

At the hubs the entrepreneurs will be provided access to resources, incubation and mentorship over the course of one week.

The five hubs are: The Innovation Hub in Pretoria, the Riversands Incubation Hub and the BizFarm in Midrand, Alphacode in Sandton and the Sophiatown Green incubator. JoziHub is the competition’s sponsor and will be providing technical assistance and coaching to the tech startups during and after the competition.

Each hub has been specifically chosen to diversify the pool of industries represented in TractionBus.

After their incubation, the best startup out of each hub will go through to the TractionBus finals at The Hook Up Dinner entrepreneurial festival 2015 during Global Entrepreneurship Week on the 18th November at Constitution Hill in Braamfontein.

The finalists will pitch in front of a panel of judges and an audience, with investors in attendance, for their shot at winning R200 000 worth of office space, mentorship, support and funding.

Startups not older than two years can enter the contest by filling out the entry form on the StartUp Edge website. Applications close on the 31st of October.

The 25 participants will be chosen on the 4th of November and will thereafter have to attend a pre-competition training session on the 11th of November.
