You can now watch Breaking Bad on ShowMax

ShowMax, the South African video on demand (VOD) service launched in August of this year is expanding its catalogue with the extremely popular crime drama series Breaking Bad.

Originally aired on the American TV channel AMC starting in January 2008, Breaking Bad went on for five seasons and 62 episodes and concluded September of 2013.

If you’ve never watched the show, you’re still probably familiar with Brian Cranston playing the high school teacher-come-drug-lord Walter White and the absolute fanaticism the show created. And that may be for good reason: Breaking Bad has won 16 Primetime Emmy Awards and has had 58 nominations. It also gets a solid recommendation from us at the office.

If you want to give it a go, ShowMax has a seven-day free trial (it does require credit card details, though), after which the service costs R99 per month.

Looking on local web stores, buying a boxset of the series will cost around R1 800 at its cheapest (the Blu-ray offering from Takealot). So, if you have the time to make the most of a subscription, you could see the entire series for a lot less money on ShowMax. You’ll have to time it right, though, as the show’s full five seasons will take you 46 hours and 30 minutes to watch to completion.

Happy viewing!
