South African comic books fans, you can now read some of your favourite graphics novels on your Android phone with a lot more ease than before.
Google has upgraded its Play Books section specifically designed for comic book fans, as the company realised that it can often be difficult to properly follow the story if the navigation isn’t up to scratch and details get lost due to poor screen formatting.
To solve that problem, Google has introduced a new vertical scrolling experience for mobile graphic novels in landscape mode. All you have to do is flip your phone on its side, and you are all set to go.
But that is not all.
“We’ve also made finding great comics and series really easy. Now we’re offering a new comics destination and a bunch of beautifully curated series pages on the Google Play Store that organise volumes, issues and other editions of the top comic series. You’ll also find new personalized recommendations for similar series to help you discover new stories and characters,” Google explained on its blog.
South Africans can count themselves lucky, as the new graphic novel view is only being rolled out to US, Canada, Australia, the UK, India, Singapore, Ireland and New Zealand (in addition to South Africa).
An update to the iOS Google Play Books section will be coming soon. And just in case you didn’t know, you can find most of DC Comics, Marvel, Image, IDW and Dark Horse graphic novels.
