All you need to do is submit a unique idea on how high university fees can be made affordable in the country. A R10 000 prize up for grabs for the best idea.

As a way of doing its part to contribute positively towards the #FeesMustFall saga, Innocentrix has launched the #FeesMustFall Ideas Challenge to address issues such as government’s university funding shortfall.

“We at Innocentrix believe that solutions to the above problems exist, and that affordable, quality higher education is possible in the foreseeable future for South Africa,” the Pretoria-based company said on its site.”

“Being in the innovation space, and regarding ourselves involved citizens that want to apply innovation as value-adding enabler, we wanted to give the people of South Africa a voice by playing an active role in creating our country’s future through innovation. We can do this by providing free access to the tools and services within our reach,” Innocentrix added.

The company is offering the use of its services and technologies for free to be included in idea submissions, you can find out more about those, on its website.

The competition is also to those living outside South Africa. The ten best ideas will be shortlisted by a panel of judges, who will then pick one winner to receive the cash prize.

At the end of the challenge, Innocentrix will hand over a report on the shortlisted ideas for government’s consideration in January 2016. The report will also be made public on Innocentrix’s website.

“The winning solution will belong to the people of South Africa and will be made available to any individual, institution or group that demonstrate the required capability to move it forward,” the company added.

Submissions are already open and close on 30th November, finalists will be announced shortly thereafter.

Innocentrix has partnered with UK and US-based companies, The Blue Globe and Skild who will be covering all the expenses and prize money for the challenge.
