Local ISP CrystalWeb hacked, some DSL account info exposed

We were alerted just now by email that local internet service provider CrystalWeb was hacked recently, and a “limited number” of usernames and passwords for DSL accounts were exposed “by a third party”.

The company says as soon as it confirmed the hack, it brought its servers offline to analyse what had happened, and changed all affected account passwords and notified their owners.

There is some good news: CrystalWeb also said it’s confident that no personally-identifiable information or payment information was compromised in the breach; only some DSL usernames and passwords were affected.

All affected CrystalWeb customers are encouraged to log into their accounts and change their new passwords as an extra security measure.
