Star Wars Wookie can cooler thing is awful

If you’ve ever been holding a can of some sort of cold beverage and wished that A) you had a can cooler to keep it cold and B) that the can cooler should resemble Han Solo’s trusty sidekick Chewbacca, you’re in luck: that’s exactly what geek-themed online store ThinkGeek.com has on sale.

You can see it here, and even buy if it you’re willing to plonk down $12.99 (around R181 at today’s exchange rate) for the privilege.

Having never been in that particular frame of mind, and being fond of not throwing our money into a black hole merely for the sake of novelty, we can only slap our foreheads in surprise and ask the question “What were they thinking?!?”.

It’s certainly a novel item, complete with a Chewbacca-like woolly exterior and the unmistakeable belt he’s always seen wearing, and it’ll certainly do what it says on the tin website, which is “Keeps your drink cold like Hoth and your hand warm like Tatooine”, but really, only the most committed Star Wars fan needs to own this.

Still, there’s no accounting for tastes, and should you feel it’s totally worth twenty bucks short of two hundred-buck bills (plus shipping), by all means snap it up.

We’ll pass, thanks.

Deon got his first taste of PC gaming at the tender age of 11 when his father bought an 8088 XT, ostensibly to "help him with his homework". Instead, it introduced him to Leisure Suit Larry, King Graham, Sonny Bonds and many more, and Deon has been a PC gamer and hardware enthusiast ever since. He landed his first professional writing gig in 2006 at a prestigious local PC magazine, a very happy happenstance as he got to write for a living about things he loves - tech, PCs, gaming, and everything in between. He's been writing about it all ever since, and loves every minute of it.
