Meet Discovery goals, get free Apple Watch

Back in September, health insurance company Discovery announced a scheme in which it will fund the purchase of an Apple Watch Sport 38mm for Vitality members if they meet their workout goals.

Today, the company made good on that promise.

“Vitality Active Rewards has been designed to work seamlessly with your Apple Watch. Apple Watch measures your activity and Vitality Active Rewards sets your weekly personalised fitness goals, records your activities and rewards you for achieving them,” it said.

The aim is to help motivate and encourage Vitality members to get more active, and the concept is rather simple.

All you have to do is apply for an Apple Watch through Discovery, and download the Vitality Active Rewards app to keep track of your goals. You’ll get your Watch right away, but the more goals you meet every week, the bigger the discount you’ll get on your Apple Watch monthly instalment.

Meet them all for 24 consecutive months, and your Apple Watch is effectively free.

From the table above, if you reach all four goals per week in a month, your Watch instalment will cost you nothing. If you don’t, you’ll have to pay between R122 and R245.79 for it that month.

“If you do not meet any of your weekly Vitality Active Rewards goals, this will be seen as a breach of your commitment and your warranty. You will then be liable to Discovery Vitality for a monthly amount (penalty) that will be debited from your qualifying Discovery Card. This amount can vary from person to person depending on the retail price of Apple Watch when you collect your Apple Watch,” Discovery warned.
