This is what 1 billion users watched on YouTube this year

YouTube has revealed which of its millions upon millions of videos has garnered the most views throughout the year.

The video-sharing site claims to have over a billion users consuming hundreds upon millions of hours of content each day. So great is the draw of YouTube that it has seen a 100% increase in the amount of time users spend watching videos on their mobiles since 2014.

Outside of music videos like Wiz Khalifa’s See You Again, which garnered 1.2 billion views since 6th April, Tianne King dancing to Silento’s Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae) has been watched over 115 million times grabbing the top spot for most watched video this year outside of the music category.

According to YouTube the amount of content creators earning six figures thanks to advertising has increased by 50% year on year. Incidentally, it’s a Super Bowl TV advert for Clash of Clans: Revenge featuring Liam Neeson swearing revenge on “Bigbuffetboy85”, that takes the number two spot with 83 million views.

The third spot goes to user RomanAtwood and his crazy plastic ball prank that was watched 56 million views.

Filling out the rest of the top ten is a Dover Police Officer lip-syncing along to Taylor Swift’s Shake it Off, Justin Bieber carpooling with The Late Late Show host, James Corden and a special edition of Jimmy Kimmel’s Mean Tweets featuring US President Barack Obama.
